Nutrition in Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease patients may benefit from medical nutrition to support their specific nutritional requirement

Medical nutrition provides patients with specialised formulations of key nutrients required for the dietary management of their specific disease. Specific nutrients need to be maintained at appropriate levels in order to support neuronal membrane synthesis and synapse formation. Because of their increased loss of synapses, patients with early Alzheimer’s disease are believed to have specific nutritional requirements.
